Our Founder

A Quiet Atelier with Loud Provenance

Obsidian Estate was founded in 1987 by Sir Aldous Vance, a former auctioneer at Christie's, who believed the great houses of the world deserved more than glossy brochures — they deserved storytellers. Three generations later, that philosophy still defines us.

We do not list. We introduce. Each estate enters our archive only after our advisors have walked its halls, traced its lineage, and decided it is worthy of the families we represent. Our average client relationship spans 14 years.
